The name, M-113, comes from the tiny serial number printed on the gear I adhered to the mannequin’s back. When I saw the Design Team call on the Viva Las Vegastamps! blog, I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to dig it out and turn it in to a steampunk clock. It measured about 8″ square and only cost me $2.99. One of our finds was a small battery operated clock in a wood frame. I’ve been especially interested in wooden pieces that I could upscale using paper collage and stamping. Over the past six months, we’ve been going to thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales looking for things we could incorporate in to our craft projects. Close though! A few adjustments to the roof and de-emphasizing the dark lines would be enough to get it on track for Big Ben-esque appearances. The finished clock, featuring a mannequin (M-113, from the gear on his back) cleaning the clock face. It's not bad at all, but not quite there for Victorian. You can have statues of people below for added art deco-ness. Also, keep in mind the roof needs a sloped curve where it moves inwards a lot at first before climbing higher, as was the theme for gothic architecture.Īlternatively, go art deco and have more pointed strong lines climbing up past the clock face on to the roofing. :) I'm using this in my themepark server It's made in 1.15 but works also in 1. IT's best if you had a nice tan stone to work with from the beginning though. Steampunk Clock tower-Here's a cool clock tower, you can download the schematic and view it in the 3D viewer :) The gears are sticking out which make this tower looks cool and unique Took me almost 10 hours to build, a comment and a diamond are very appreciated. You've already built it out of grey stone, so at best you're going to get by with a desaturated dark blue roof. Fill in behind those dark vertical lines with a light stone of some kind and leave a few windows in place to help it have the vertical lines but de-emphasize them. I don't know about the texture pack for use, but consider having the same circle square of gold that the original has. You could get some of this effect by adding a line of fences with higher fencing on the corners. In comparison, the top is much more vertical and pointed. He was very against the neo-classical or anything else seen as "pagan" in origin. If you'd like to imitate Big Ben's style more, I'd suggest looking at ways to make it appear more gothic, as was the style of the architect who built it. The vertical lines emphasize art deco the most. If you had incorporated more whites and light greys, it'd be even more so. I recognize you're attempting the style of Big Ben, but the minimalist yet strong lines and facade of grey is more suited to Art Deco. Urbanization, and civic duty, all that good stuff. The clock tower itself, as an object, predates the victorian era by at least a century if not more as I recall the Renaissance being when they began starting these sorts of civic projects. So please, know what your talking about before you comment.Īctually, it resembles Art Deco more than the Victorian styles of the time, which admittedly did include ecclecticism. The structure is primarily Victorian influence, with some sci-fi elements, such as the redstone controlled lighting. A vertical redstone bus runs up the core of the building to the clock face. The unit was too big to fit into the tower, so it is located underneath the fountain in the plaza.Īnd this is how the signal gets to the top. The counter increments to eleven, then uses a synchronous reset (driven by the clock signal), to loop back to zero (12 o'clock). Probably could have made the unit smaller, but miniaturization would have taken much more time. I had to design my own, since all the existing counter designs were either binary or incremental, which would not be suitable for acting on a single output at a time. A mess of signal routing in order to run each signal to its corresponding point on the clock face.Ī view of the sequential counter. The 12 o'clock is derived from the other signals using a massive NOR gate (right side of image) during the counter reset phase. The 11-bit sequential counter used to drive the clock (left).
